In
reviving life on Inchmarnock, sea transport was required. The
landing craft “Marnock” was built and launched in
1999 at the Ardmaleish Boatbuilding Company, Isle of Bute, and
travels between Bute and Inchmarnock carrying goods and livestock.
It is a 30 ton (LOA 15m (ex ramps) x breadth mid. 5.0m x depth
mid. 1.575m) with a 10-tonne/m crane fitted with 1 tonne winch
(7m reach). Details of the Marnock can be viewed on www.ardmaleishboatbuilding.co.uk.
“Marnock” has been hired by several businesses in
the Clyde estuary where access to remote locations has been necessary.
